She first rose to prominence as Assistant District Attorney Serena Southerlyn on the long-running, Emmy-winning series Law & Order, where she was a series regular for four seasons and received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Early in her career, Röhm also became a cult favorite for her role as Detective Kate Lockley in Joss Whedon's supernatural series Angel, establishing her presence in genre television. She also had memorable roles in Jane the Virgin, The Last Ship, and Heroes.

Röhm’s film career is equally impressive, with more than 80 credits to her name. She co-starred in David O.
